David Wilson-Johnson welcomes you to Ferrandou Musique 2017.

I am very happy to announce the first of many collaborations with the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I studied from 1973 to 1976. I have invited the Abingdon Wind Quintet to come to Ferrandou and perform three different programmes of fascinating repertoire for Wind Instruments in three of the most beautiful churches in the region.

The aim of the new scheme at Ferrandou Atelier is to allow particularly talented musicians to come and work intensively on expanding their repertoire in the Dordogne valley, in an atmosphere which over the last thirty-five years I have found to be most conducive to serious study and to great musical steps forward.

The Abingdon Wind Quintet are all student prizewinners at the RAM and are already enjoying much success. Their repertoire for their three concerts includes works by Reicha, Ligeti, Britten, Damase, Rossini, Hindemith, Danzi, Debussy, Milhaud, Ibert, Parker, Francaix, Onslow, Barber, Stravinsky, Arnold, Megdalia, Vinter and Nielsen.....an astonishing list in a wide variety of styles.

Something for everyone indeed!
